Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ,

Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ means “All my Relations” in the Lakota language. Dear reader, you may know that I am a member of a Lakota tiyospaye or “family” based here in Grant County, NM. I am so blessed to have been led to this family, and am truly grateful to the Lakota people for allowing anyone, regardless of their background, to participate in their ancient traditions and ceremonial practices.
The phrase “All my Relations” captures the heart of the Shamanic path, which I’ve followed now for more than a decade. It is based on the belief that everything is connected energetically, and that everything is alive with Spirit – the rocks, the trees, the rivers and the skies – everything! I am so blessed that Spirit has led me to the practice of Shamanism, and I credit this path with my ability to rise above the trauma of childhood, stop being a victim, let go of blaming others, and become the hero of my own life story. That is why I say, “with Spirit all is possible.”
If I can make the shift from being a victim of life circumstances, leave what became a toxic marriage, and instead learn to truly love myself and create a fulfilling, purposeful, even joyful life, so can you! I know that the difficult challenges of my life have taught me to be a better healer, and truly be able to empathize with my clients and be a source of support and encouragement. I’ve been there. I understand, and I want to help. My one true desire in this last phase of my working life is to be of service in the best way possible. “When we heal ourselves, we heal our world.” This is a fundamental truth of Shamanic healing. I’ve experienced it first hand and know it to be a universal truth.
In my newsletters and blog posts, my intention is to share information that I hope will be of service to you, my dear reader. I’m not a big fan of social media, and I’m not much interested nor very good at self-promotion. However, I am very interested in being of service and helping my fellow relations heal. When we heal ourselves, we contribute to the healing of the collective. From a Shamanic perspective, we are all dreaming our future into being. What future do you want to create for yourself? For your family? Your community? Our beautiful planet home? We are creating our future right here, right now, in this very moment. Let’s make it a bright, beautiful one!
I’d love to make this endeavor as interactive as possible, and welcome your ideas, feedback, suggestions, and your inspiration. I expect that these little missives of mine will evolve, grow and change over time to better reflect your needs and input. Thank you for offering something of yourself, and sharing any feedback and ideas that you have.
Everywhere I go these days, someone is talking about how crazy life is. Certainly, we are in the midst of massive and rapid transformation on so many levels. It can feel overwhelming. And so much of it is clearly out of our individual control. So, you wanna change the world? Heal yourself. And we all need help sometimes to do just that.
We are so blessed to live at a moment when there are so many natural healing modalities available to us. My 45-year-plus healing journey, for example, has included psychotherapy, physical therapy and chiropractic care, acupuncture, EFT tapping, body work, juicing, fasting and detox diets, aromatherapy, flower essences, too many self-help books to mention, journaling, and lots of classes and courses – so many things. It’s also, of course, vitally important to eat well, stay hydrated, exercise, and be consistent with those practices that work.
I’ve always been a spiritual seeker, and though all of the things that I’ve tried had their purpose and helped at the time, it wasn’t until I stepped onto the Shamanic path that my healing journey really took hold. Curious? Let’s talk. I’d love to share my experience and see if I can be of help to you on your journey back to love.❤️
